Biography: A. A. Milne was an English author, best known for his children's poetry and his series of books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh. While Milne was first a playwright, his success with Winnie-the-Pooh quickly overshadowed this work.

Christopher Robin Milne, Milne's son, served as the inspiration for the character Christopher Robin in the Winnie-the-Pooh stories. Milne wrote the series after his son encountered a tame bear called Winnipeg at London Zoo.
