Biography: Aldo Moro was an Italian statesman, known for serving two terms as Prime Minister of Italy (1963-1968, 1974-1976). He also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Italian government (1969-1972, 1973-1974).

Moro's death came in 1976 after he was kidnapped by the far-left Red Brigades, who held him captive for 55 days. While attempts were made for negotiations, the government was reluctant to be involved; it was then that the armed group executed Moro after a "people's trial."
