Biography: The Mexican boxer became a four-weight world champion in November 2019 when he beat Sergey Kovalev in Las Vegas for the WBA light heavyweight title, jumping two weight classes to do so. He became one of only four boxers to win titles at 154lbs and 175lbs, joining the likes of Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns and Mike McCallum.

Álvarez turned professional aged just 16 and by 2020 had won 53 of his 56 professional matches. His most notable loss came in 2013 against Floyd Mayweather, who won on points. Since then Álvarez has gone on to beat the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Miguel Cotto and Amir Khan.
