Biography: Christian Dior founded of one of the world's top fashion houses, in Paris after WW II. His first collection dubbed "New Look" with its new shapes and use of material was extremely influential in a world used to rationing and thrift.

Christian Dior died of a heart attack suddenly in 1952 but his company lives on as a leading French fashion house. Other designers, including the controversial John Galliano, have taken on the role of house designer and the house is also well known for its perfume and makeup lines.
