Why Famous: Danny Glover's career began in theater but he has gone on to be successful in film, TV and theater. His most famous role is opposite Mel Gibson in the "Lethal Weapon" film series. Other prominent roles include the Oscar nominated films "The Color Purple" (1985) directed by Stephen Spielberg and "Witness" (1985).
Glover is also a prominent civil rights and community activist supporting such organizations as United Farm Workers and The Algebra Project. He was a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program 1998-2004 and a UNICEF Ambassador.
Glove is a co-founder of the film production company Louverture Films which focuses on films with historical relevance and social purpose.
