Biography: David Lynch is a major American filmmaker whose work is known for its often surrealist quality.

Lynch has been nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards three times, winning an Honorary Award in 2019. He has also won the Palme d'Or at Cannes for "Wide at Heart" (1990) with Nicholas Cage and Laura Dern as well as Best Director at Cannes for "Mulholland Drive" (2001).

Lynch is also known for his TV series the mystery drama "Twin Peaks" (1990-91, 2017) starring Kyle MacLachlan.
