Cheney was often criticized for his policies regarding wiretapping by the National Security Agency and so-called enhanced interrogation techniques. He is widely considered one of the most powerful Vice Presidents in American history.

Outside of his policies he became infamous for shooting a fellow hunter on a quail hunt at Armstrong ranch in Texas.
