Biography: One of the most famous, talented and controversial football players in history, Maradona was join FIFA Player of the Century with Brazilian footballer Pelé. During his club career he played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla and Newell's Old Boys.

With the Argentinian national team, which he played for from 1977 to 1994, he earned 91 caps and scored 34 goals. He captained the team during the 1986 World Cup where the team won - during the quarterfinal with England he scored two of the game's most famous goals: one called the "Hand of God" for an unpenalized handling foul that allowed him to score, and the second the "Goal of the Century", considered one of the most brilliant goals ever in football.

Maradona has caused controversy for his drug abuse, political views and his financial problems. Nevertheless he remains a football icon for many around the world.
