Biography: The American actress became a starring actress in the 1984 in such films as "The Karate Kid" (1984) and "Cocktail" (1988) with Tom Cruise. Roles in "Back to the Future Part II & III followed. Her most critically acclaimed part came with the 1995 film "Leaving Las Vegas" directed by Mike Figgis and co-starring Nicolas Cage. She was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her role alongside Cage who went on to win.

From 2012-15 she starred in the long-running TV crime series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation".
