Biography: Estée Lauder's parents were Hungarian immigrants who had very little money. Lauder started working at her uncle's beauty salon when she was just a teenager. She soon began to develop her own line of products.

In 1946, Lauder and her husband Joseph Lauder founded Estée Lauder Companies. The company originally sold only four products: skin care cream, cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. Lauder was very involved in the development and marketing of her products. She was one of the first to use television advertising to market her products.

Her company is now one of the largest cosmetics companies in the world. It sells over 25,000 products in over 150 countries.
