Her most famous work includes the film "The Three Faces of Eve" (1957) for which she won an Oscar and a Golden Globe, "Rachel, Rachel" (1968) directed and produced by her husband Paul Newman and which won her another Golden Globe.

She has other significant role in "Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams" (1973) and in the Merchant Ivory film "Mr. and Mrs. Bridge" (1990) in which she starred opposite her husband. On TV she starred opposite Sally Field in the TV movie "Sybil" (1976)
