Biography: Nicknamed "Crazy Joe", Joe Gallo was a well known New York City gangster for the Profaci crime family, which later became the Colombo crime family.

Gallo rose as an enforcer for the Profaci family, becoming rich controlling various businesses. It seems likely he was the gunman behind the assassination of Murder Inc. crime boss Albert Anastasia in 1957.

Gallo initiated a bloody mob conflict by kidnapping members of the Profaci family and holding them to ransom. The Profaci family upon release extracted their revenge killing a number of his associates before Gallo himself was arrested and imprisoned for extortion in 1961.

After serving 10 years Gallo was released and when he rejected the peace deal the by then Colombo family had organised he was gunned down in a New York City restaurant celebrating his 43rd birthday.
