Biography:One of the three tenors, Carreras debuted with the New York Metropolitan Opera in 1974, as Cavaradossi in Puccini's 'Tosca". He later debuted at La Scala, Milan in 1975, as Riccardo in Verdi's "Un ballo in maschera".
In 1988, he established the José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation, after his own diagnosis and recovery from the disease.
