Biography: Laura Dern was born into the acting profession as the daughter of actors Bruce Dern and Dianne Ladd.
Dern began her career in a number of critically acclaimed roles including "Mask" (1985) opposite Cher, then two David Lynch films "Blue Velvet" (1986)and "Wild at Heart" (1990) before being nominated for her first Academy Award for the indie film "Rambling Rose". With her mother Dianne Ladd also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Rambling Rose they became the first mother and daughter to be nominated for acting in the same film.
In 1993 Dern starred in Steven Spielberg's first Jurassic Park film, going on to appear in its sequels. In 2014 Dern was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for "Wild" opposite Reese Witherspoon. In 2019 Dern won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for "Marriage Story".
Dern has also won acclaim for her television roles, most notably for "Big Little Lies" for which she won an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
