Biography: As one of the most famous pilots in Russian history, Popovich broke over 100 flying records and was the first Soviet woman to break the sound barrier in 1964, making her third in the world.

Overcoming the hurdles presented by both her diminutive height and gender during WWII, Popovich became a colonel in the Soviet Air Force.

After WWII Popovich continued to fly. She has also published a book titled "U.F.O. Glasnost," in which details her experience with UFOs.
