Full Name: Martin Lee Chu-ming
Profession: Pro-Democracy Activist and Politician
Biography: Lee is an activist and lawyer from Hong Kong who is renowned for his involvement in the pro-democracy movement. This began with Lee participating in talks for the handover of Hong Kong by the British to China, and for his continued activity since he has been called the "Father of Democracy" in Hong Kong.
While Lee is popular and well-respected among the pro-democracy factions within Hong Kong, he has often been at odds with the Chinese government over their influence in the government of Hong Kong.
He continued to play an active role in Hong Kong politics for some years, though ceased this activity after the 2020 Hong Kong National Security Law was passed; at which point he also stopped giving interviews to media organisations.
