Biography: Verstappen, whose father Jos Verstappen was also a Formula One driver, is the youngest ever Formula One driver—with his debut in the 2015 Australian Grand Prix at 17 years old.

His father retired from his own Formula One career to support the young Verstappen after he showed some success in early karting, both domestically and internationally.

Since his 2015 debut, Verstappen has had a strong showing and several successes. This culminated in his 2021 win over Lewis Hamilton at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with which Verstappen became the 34th Formula One World Drivers' Champion.

While this win over Hamilton to become world champion has not been without controversy surrounding the circumstances of the final race, Verstappen is still regarded as a uniquely talented driver.
