Profession: National Security Advisor
Why Famous: Originally a general who served in the US Army for 33 years, Flynn was picked by Donald Trump to serve as his National Security Advisor. Between 2012 and 2014 he served as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
After only 24 days as the National Security Advisor, Flynn was fired after it emerged he had lied to US Vice President Mike Pence about his conversations with the Russian ambassador in the lead up to Trump's election. After his dismissal he was investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller over allegations the Russians assisted the Trump campaign.
To this end he was charged with a single count of lying to the FBI and pleaded guilty in court; he will cooperate with the Special Counsel.
