Biography: Comedian Rip Taylor's career started while he was in the US army and he performed for the troops during the Korean War. Afterwards he became a successful night club performer before first appearing on television on the Ed Sullivan show in 1961.

Taylor, known for his flamboyant appearance and lively often risqué act became a mainstay on US TV chat and game shows such as "The Hollywood Squares" and “The Gong Show”. His famous confetti act of throwing confetti at an audience began by accident on a Merv Griffin’s show.
