Biography:Stan Smith is an American tennis player who was once world number one in 1971, who won two major singles championships (1971 US Open, 1972 Wimbledon), and who was a member of one of the all-time great men's doubles teams alongside Bob Lutz.
Despite all this, he is best known as the namesake of a popular brand of tennis shoes made by Adidas.
