Profession: President of Ukraine
Why Famous: Yanukovych served as President of Ukraine from 2010 until his ouster in the 2014 revolution.
His refusal to sign an economic agreement with the European Union in favor of a new treaty with Russia led to widespread protests. During February 2014 the protests in Kiev turned violent, and then into a revolution, culminating in his ouster by the Ukrainian Parliament on 22 February.
He then fled Ukraine and since his removal he has resided in Russia. Vladimir Putin has reportedly given him Russian citizenship by secret decree.
