Biography: Willem-Alexander has been the reigning King of the Netherlands since the succeeded his mother, Beatrix, on 30 April 2013.

Prior to this he was the Prince of Orange and took an interest in sports and international water management issues. His roles included member of the International Olympic Committee, chairman of the Advisory Committee on Water to the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment and chairman of the Secretary-General of the United Nations' Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation.
