Historical Context

Henry Morton Stanley was a newspaper reporter who was hired by the New York Herald in 1871 to find the famous missionary and explorer, David Livingstone who had been missing for some time.

Upon finding Livingstone, Stanley reportedly asked the understated and subsequently immortal phrase, "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"
